What is the Issue?

The rapid growth of electronic waste is primarily driven by the disposal of consumer devices.


By recycling your batteries and rechargeable devices, we can reduce the global dependence on mining, leading to decreased costs and a lower environmental impact for our products.

Batteries play a fundamental role in our daily lives, powering various devices like laptops and watches. As essential components, there is a continuously increasing need for recycling in this domain.

DO NOT throw batteries in the garbage or in your curbside recycling bin!  Batteries can cause fires and harm the environment, people, and property.

Battery recycling involves several steps depending on the type of battery. Lead-acid batteries are broken down into pieces and separated into plastic, lead, and heavy metals. The plastic is melted and turned into pellets for battery cases, while lead is cleaned and used for battery production. Sulfuric acid is converted to sodium sulfate for various uses. Alkaline-Zinc, Carbon-Zinc, and Air batteries are mechanically separated into zinc & manganese concentrate, steel, paper, and plastic, all of which are recycled. Lithium batteries are shredded and neutralized, and their metals are recovered for recycling. Nickel-cadmium and Nickel Metal Hydride batteries have plastics separated and metals reclaimed via a high-temperature process. Mercury batteries require careful handling due to toxicity, with mercury being reused in various applications. Silver-oxide batteries are shredded, and precious metals like silver are extracted for reuse. Overall, battery recycling helps recover valuable materials and reduce environmental impact.

NIMH Batteries

Automobile Batteries
